A new way to look at work?

I’ve found a new way to look at my working environment. I work at home… about 2 feet away from my wonderfully comfortable Ikea bed, with pillows, sheets, duvet, etc… So sometimes I find it hard to focus on work (and even sometimes getting out of bed).

The last week or two, i’ve adopted a new work guideline… Its pretty simple.. here goes..

“Get as much work done as possible before 10am”

I’ve found that I work incredibly well between the hours of 7am and 10am. Strange but true. Maybe its cuz later in the day I start to think about all the things I want to accomplish or even just the distractions of lunch time (yum), or even just going for an afternoon bike ride or walk. Getting a good amount of work done between 7am and 10am leaves me feeling happy that I got up, and gives me a solid base for the rest of the day. It makes me feel like i’ve accomplished something instead of sitting around like a bum.

Do you have any personal guidelines that you follow that make your work more productive?

Late night blog post

Its about 4:25am right now, and i’m having a hard time sleeping.. I think its because of the heat (its acutally not that hot yet), its about 26C in my room right now… Anyway, so I thought i’d write a blog, since i’ve been lacking major these last few months.

2007 has been a great year so far. Its only May and I’ve already done so much, and are still planning to do much much more in the not to distant future… Hopefully another European trip, maybe buy a new guitar, world domination?

I recently bought a bike off Craigslist.. Its a FirmStrong Urban Deluxe Stretch Beach Cruizer bike (Long name).. Basically, it means that its a long bike… it kind of looks like a motorcycle. Its all chrome. Doesn’t have any gears. The seat is huge and comfortable. I like it a lot. Its been a long time since I’ve owned a bike, but its kind of reminded me of the freedom having a bike when I was a kid was like. I seriously cant imagine why I waited so long (after living in Toronto for nearly 2.5 years no, how I made it so long without having one. Having a bike, has also changed the way I look at driving (for the better), especially after almost being squished on two different occasions.

However, I do have one complaint about riding a bike in Toronto. This may seem completely bitchy, and assholeish, but I do feel as though bikers who complain a lot about how they are treated as vehicles on the road, are a bit of a whining bunch. I’ve not spent an enormous amount of time on the road, but over the last few weeks, I’ve spent a good chunk (in a bunch of different parts of the city). Its not that bad. People for the most part are very respectful of cyclists. If anything, they’re terrified of causing an accident, so they usually get out of MY way. It makes me wonder that possibly this bunch of people who complain about equality on the road cause some of the problems them selfs by being maniac’s.  Anyway, just my .2c.

Still alive

Yes, i’m still alive….
However, finding time to update this blog has been difficult lately. The Spring European tour was awesome (as expected), i’m busy as heck with work, and i’ve rid myself of coffee (i’m drinking tea for the time being).

More updates coming soon!
